What I like about Between 2 Worlds is how loose it feels without actually being unfocused. With this EP, Bae Baracus leans into instinct over structure, and that gives the project its personality.

There’s a clear sense that this comes from a place of chemistry rather than calculation. You can hear it in how the tracks move. They don’t feel overdesigned. They feel like ideas that were allowed to grow naturally, which fits the band’s whole approach to making music.
The EP opens on a softer note, which might catch some listeners off guard if they’re expecting immediate energy. But that contrast is intentional. It sets up the shift into “What Is This?”, which brings a sharper, more direct electro-pop punch. That track feels like the center of gravity for the release, fast, bold, and built to move.
Then you get “Flare (CME),” which leans into something more experimental. It doesn’t try to follow the same structure as the other tracks, and that’s what makes it work. It feels like the band pushing their sound outward rather than staying in a comfortable lane.
What stands out to me across all three tracks is the balance between attitude and melody. There’s a clear punk edge in the way the songs are delivered, but it’s paired with a strong sense of rhythm and layering. That combination keeps the music from feeling too abrasive or too polished.
Dolly De Guerre’s vocal style plays a big role in that. There’s a sharpness to the delivery, but also a sense of playfulness that keeps things from becoming heavy. It matches the tone of the lyrics, which lean toward wit and observation rather than straightforward storytelling.
Behind that, the production and instrumentation bring everything together. The arrangements feel full without being crowded, and there’s a noticeable attention to how each element fits into the overall sound.
For me, Between 2 Worlds works because it doesn’t try to define itself too clearly. It exists somewhere between styles, between moods, between ideas, and it’s comfortable staying there.
It’s energetic, unpredictable, and driven by personality.
And that’s what makes it stand out.
