In the realm of innovative pop, SVYNX emerges as a trailblazing duo, comprised of Tobias Lübbers on guitar and Wolfgang Füßenich on drums. Their latest release, “Harvest Season,” is a testament to their unique musical approach, blending odd beats that groove seamlessly with catchy melodies. The duo’s fusion of electronic sounds with captivating rhythms takes a fresh perspective on pop, showcasing a significant evolution from their earlier works.
Originating from chance meetings through mutual friends, Tobias and Wolfgang joined forces to create music that pushes boundaries. Influenced by bands like “Mother’s Cake” and “The Armed,” SVYNX’s compositions are a reflection of the topics occupying their minds, especially during the initial lockdowns.
Notable performances at Euroblast Festival 2019 and Trafo-Festival 2019 solidified SVYNX’s presence on the music scene. An interesting highlight includes Baard of Leprous jamming over one of their backing tracks, expressing intrigue and enjoyment.
“Harvest Season” was born out of DIY efforts, recorded in the band’s rehearsal space and later mixed and mastered by RRENIMarts. The ethos behind the single revolves around the modern struggle in society, drawing parallels between agriculture and everyday challenges. The metaphorical exploration of “what you reap is what you sow” and the dichotomy of “sink or swim” takes center stage in the song’s thematic narrative. The recording process had its share of unique challenges. Initial ideas for the EP, including “Harvest Season,” originated in early 2020 amidst pandemic-induced restrictions. The departure of their bass player led to the incorporation of synths, shaping the EP’s distinctive sound. Despite hurdles, SVYNX completed the writing process, delving into DIY recording before entrusting the material to RRENIMarts for mixing and mastering.
Reflecting on the creation of “Harvest Season,” Tobias shares a personal insight, stating, “When this song was created, it was lockdown season, but as a nurse, I had to work anyways. This song was a good means to escape the strains of that time, and I am very proud of what it became.” SVYNX’s “Harvest Season” not only encapsulates a progressive pop journey through modern struggles but also stands as a testament to the duo’s resilience, creativity, and musical innovation.
