Alternative folk ensemble 23 Fields is set to captivate audiences once again with their upcoming album, “To Follow This Years Fashion,” slated for release on April 1st, 2024. Offering a blend of introspective lyricism, infectious melodies, and rich instrumentation, the album promises to be a captivating exploration of life’s complexities and nuances.
The lead single from the album, “Berlin,” serves as a poignant introduction to the band’s sonic tapestry. With its powerful yet jaunty demeanor, the track effortlessly balances acoustic elements with hints of electric piano, creating a dynamic soundscape that is both evocative and compelling. Infectiously rhythmic percussion intertwines with tender, long-drawn violin passages, all underscored by the band’s raspy vocals. “Berlin” not only showcases 23 Fields’ musical prowess but also pays homage to their early days of pub-busking, evoking a warm atmosphere of bar revelry.
Drawing from a diverse array of influences spanning folk, roots, Americana, and beyond, “To Follow This Years Fashion” is a testament to the band’s eclectic musical palette. Across its 13 tracks, the album delves into themes of love, life, and the human experience, offering a deeply personal and introspective journey for listeners to embark upon.
For 23 Fields, the road to “To Follow This Years Fashion” has been a long and winding one, marked by a series of serendipitous encounters and life-changing experiences. From humble beginnings of small busks and teenage rock bands to navigating the intricacies of working in A&E and volunteering for the RNLI for over two decades, the band’s journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. Yet, it was a chance meeting over a haircut that brought the members of 23 Fields together, setting them on a musical trajectory that would culminate in the creation of their second album.
In celebration of the album’s release, 23 Fields has lined up an array of live performances, including an Album Release Party at the Hastings Arms on March 31st, 2024, followed by gigs at venues such as Jenny Lind in Hastings, Kings Head in Battle, The Dolphin Inn in Hastings, ELF (Every Last Friday) in Battle, and The Plough (Westhill) in Hastings throughout the year.
“To Follow This Years Fashion” will be available across all major streaming platforms starting April 1st, inviting listeners to immerse themselves in the enchanting world of 23 Fields and experience the magic of their music firsthand. With its soul-stirring melodies and heartfelt lyrics, the album promises to leave a lasting impression on all who encounter it, resonating with audiences far and wide.
