With his debut EP “Fountains Of Your Youth” (out October 16, 2025), Jonny Thorns stakes his claim as one of the most exciting rising voices in the UK indie rock scene. Hailing from Durham, England, Jonny brings a fresh yet familiar sound—one that blends the energy of modern indie rock with the emotional honesty of classic British songwriting. From start to finish, the EP feels like a personal journey told through guitars, soaring choruses, and open-hearted lyrics.
The title track “Fountains Of Your Youth” bursts open with fast-paced rhythms and unapologetic optimism. It’s a song about finding love after a lonely chapter in life, capturing the rush of connection with a hook that sticks long after the first listen. There’s something effortlessly anthemic about it—driven by crisp guitars and powerful drumming that channel influences like Stereophonics and Oasis. Jonny’s vocals feel urgent yet warm, perfectly matching the track’s euphoric tone.
On “Strangers,” Jonny takes a softer, more introspective turn. Inspired by Richard Ashcroft and the storytelling tradition of British acoustic songwriters, it’s one of the most vulnerable moments on the record. The track reflects on losing touch with a friend—not out of conflict, but through the quiet drift of time. Strings elevate the emotion without overpowering the simplicity of the acoustic guitar, allowing the lyrics to sit front and center. It’s easy to see why producer Andy Bell called it Jonny’s “most complete song to date.”
Another standout is “No Place Left to Hide,” which marks Jonny’s first co-writing experience with songwriter Jim Dixon. There’s a palpable energy here—the kind that only comes from a fresh creative collaboration. Built on punchy drums and rich harmonies reminiscent of the Gallagher brothers, the track embodies the spirit of late-night studio sessions, where ideas turn into something electric. The production, handled at Blast Recording, is tight and powerful, letting each element breathe while keeping the momentum high.
The EP’s emotional center comes with “Save You”—a rock ballad produced by Dave Red. What began as a simple song grew into something cinematic through layered production, thoughtful drum work, and a standout guitar solo. It reveals another side of Jonny: one that’s not afraid to be vulnerable, but still knows how to deliver a big, memorable chorus.
Finally, the acoustic version of “All I Ever Knew” closes the collection with intimacy and warmth, recorded at Harbourmaster Studios. It’s a quiet moment that reinforces the heart behind Jonny’s music.
What makes “Fountains Of Your Youth” so compelling is its balance. It’s both polished and personal, born from real experiences but crafted with intention. Jonny’s influences are clear—Stereophonics, Catfish and the Bottlemen, The Courteeners—yet he shapes them into something distinct. His voice, both literally and artistically, rings with sincerity.
Recording across multiple studios gave the project a layered texture, from explosive rock tracks to intimate acoustic moments. This variety doesn’t dilute the EP; it strengthens it, reflecting Jonny’s growth as a songwriter and performer.
As he prepares to support Jim Dixon at The Cluny on November 2, the timing of this release couldn’t be better. “Fountains Of Your Youth” is not just a collection of songs—it’s a snapshot of an artist stepping into his own. With honest lyrics, sharp melodies, and a genuine love for the craft, Jonny Thorns isn’t just making noise—he’s making a name.
