While these gigs were unpaid, they offered the perk of free weekly film viewings with friends. Around 2017, his saxophone prowess took center stage.
Throughout his educational journey, Matthew continued to hone his craft. From 2017 to 2019, he pursued music studies at Glasgow Clyde College, culminating in an HND in music. During this period, he showcased his saxophone skills at various restaurants and bars across Glasgow, including esteemed venues like the Ivy and Princes Square.
In 2020, Matthew embarked on a new phase of his musical voyage, enrolling at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. However, this endeavor coincided with the onset of the global COVID-19 pandemic, significantly affecting his income streams. This often involved collaborating with DJs at clubs, performing at weddings, and engaging in functions, serving as his primary source of income as he pursued his studies. After four years of dedicated education, Matthew Ruddy proudly graduated with a Bachelor of Music Performance with Honours from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
