Slowdive Announces New Album “everything is alive” and Shares Lead Single “kisses”

Following their remarkable self-titled comeback album in 2017, Slowdive is ready to captivate listeners once again with their latest musical offering. The band has announced their upcoming album titled “everything is alive,” set to be released on September 1. This heartfelt album is dedicated to the memory of Rachel Goswell’s mother and Simon Scott’s father, both of whom passed away in 2020. The recording process began that same fall and continued over the course of the next couple of years.

Initially conceptualized by Neil Halstead as a “more minimal electronic record,” the direction of “everything is alive” evolved as the band worked through the songs together. In a press release, Halstead emphasized the importance of collective satisfaction within the band, stating, “As a band, when we’re all happy with it, that tends to be the stronger material. We’ve always come from slightly different directions, and the best bits are where we all meet in the middle.”

To give fans a taste of what’s to come, Slowdive is sharing the lead single from the album, titled “kisses.” In a time that calls for positivity, Halstead expressed the band’s desire to create an album that feels hopeful. He stated, “It wouldn’t feel right to make a really dark record right now.” With its eclectic emotional range, “everything is alive” promises to take listeners on a captivating journey.

Be sure to watch the music video for “kisses,” directed by Noel Paul, as it accompanies the release of the lead single. Slowdive is ready to embrace their audience once again, offering a collection of heartfelt and emotionally diverse tracks in their upcoming album.
