The Muster Point Project’s Latest Single “I Did What I Did”: A Rocking Expression of Remorse

In the ever-evolving realm of music, where boundaries blur, and creativity knows no constraints, The Muster Point Project (TMPP) stands as a beacon of innovation. Renowned for their ability to traverse diverse musical landscapes, TMPP has consistently made waves in the industry. Their most recent release, “I Did What I Did,” not only encapsulates their signature genre-defying style but also adds a humorous and self-deprecating touch to the quest for forgiveness in the aftermath of relationship mishaps.

“I Did What I Did” represents a bold departure from TMPP’s established sound. It’s a heavier, edgier, and certifiably rocking track that underscores their willingness to explore new musical territories. This song is a pivotal part of an upcoming collaborative EP with celebrated Canadian novelist Geoff Moore, who has lent his witty and clever lyricism to this captivating composition.

The lyrics of “I Did What I Did” narrate the tale of an unconventional protagonist, far from the typical mold of a relationship partner. This character exudes qualities of being rambunctious, boisterous, and unapologetic in their actions, at least until remorse inevitably kicks in. The track playfully delves into the dynamics of someone who habitually acts first and, when necessary, offers their apologies later. It’s an electrifying, energetic, and highly entertaining song that masterfully encapsulates the essence of a character who lives life on their terms.

Geoff Moore, the literary virtuoso behind the song’s lyrics, shares insight into his creative process: “One of those popular sayings, seemingly trite, but true. If my family had a coat of arms, that could be our motto; okay, now deal with it, carry on. I then listed all the old saws I could think of and tried to assemble them into a coherent order for Kevin to sing.”

TMPP’s driving force, Kevin Franco, originates from Calgary and splits his time between Canada and Santiago, Chile. His musical dexterity spans a myriad of genres, encompassing pop, folk, metal, funk, and the timeless allure of rock ‘n’ roll. “I Did What I Did” takes a bold leap into the realms of hard rock, blues, and punk, marking a departure from the folk-rock and Americana-infused tracks that have characterized their earlier work. The light-heartedness of the lyrics adds an engaging layer to the music, rendering it appealing to a broad spectrum of music enthusiasts.

TMPP draws inspiration from an eclectic array of musical influences, unified by their shared passion for storytelling through song. “I Did What I Did” adeptly combines Geoff Moore’s exceptional storytelling with music, delivering a humorous rendition of the all-too-familiar tale of a partner who perpetually finds themselves in hot water, followed by sincere apologies.

The band’s journey thus far has been marked by the release of two 9-song albums, with the first even gracing the unique medium of 8-track in 2021. Their sophomore album, “What’s the Point?,” emerged in late 2022, and 2023 has seen a string of captivating singles, including the rollicking “I Did What I Did.” Looking ahead, the fall of 2023 promises an exciting five-song EP as part of their ongoing collaboration with Geoff Moore.

TMPP’s mission centers on crafting songs that not only feel and sound great but also resonate with their own musical preferences. The burgeoning global audience that their music has attracted attests to its universal appeal. “I Did What I Did” stands as a testament to their ability to meld storytelling with music, resulting in a rocking apology that’s not just musically impressive but also profoundly entertaining.
