The inception of SWiiMS occurred during the summer preceding the global Covid pandemic. Mai and Colin serendipitously united through a Craigslist musicians wanted ad, and their creative synergy was ignited. Without delay, they embarked on the creation of their inaugural EP, “Through Waves,” meticulously produced during the summer and autumn of that fateful year. Shortly thereafter, Cian joined their ranks, infusing fresh perspectives into the band. “Through Waves” garnered critical acclaim, extensive radio play, and even secured a spot on the NACC charts.
Despite the turbulent times brought on by the pandemic, SWiiMS persisted in their creative endeavors, adapting to the constraints by forging ahead with songwriting, predominantly in an online setting. The result of their tenacity is the highly anticipated LP, “Into The Blue Night.”

The creation of “Into The Blue Night” was a labor of love spanning the years 2020 through 2023. The album serves as an exploration of themes surrounding love, navigating the complexities of relationships, and, notably, delving into the profound impact of the multiple COVID waves and lockdowns, touching on subjects like death, grief, and the erosion of faith in humanity.

SWiiMS collectively composed all the songs, enlisting the expertise of Josh Korody, a Toronto-based producer and engineer, to infuse their music with an additional layer of creativity. The finishing touch was applied by Noah Mintz at Lacquer Channel in Toronto, who masterfully polished the record.

The music video for “All I Die For” materialized rather swiftly. Cian initiated the concept by sharing a compilation of nighttime scenes from Toronto’s streetcars. Mai’s partner then filmed scenes of the band at a nearby park and expertly edited and overlaid them onto Cian’s footage. The result is a visually captivating amalgamation of nighttime imagery, marking the band’s debut music video as a collective endeavor.
