Harry Kappen is an independent musician, producer, and music therapist based in the Netherlands. A multi-instrumentalist, Kappen has been involved in the Dutch music scene for many years, playing in numerous bands and working as a producer for various pop bands. His extensive experience and diverse influences, including David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Prince, Radiohead, and Knower, are reflected in his eclectic musical style.
Kappen’s journey as a composer began at a young age, and over the years, he has written hundreds of songs, some for his bands, others for fun, and occasionally for events or Dutch television. His talent and dedication to music have earned him five nominations for this year’s Josie Awards in Nashville and the ISSA Awards in Atlanta.
Beyond his musical career, Kappen is also a dedicated music therapist, working with youngsters and adolescents in youth care institutions. He helps clients cope with various developmental and behavioral disorders through music therapy, using his multi-instrumental skills to connect quickly and effectively. Kappen also works with families struggling with dysfunctional patterns, utilizing music therapy to make these patterns audible and curable. Additionally, he serves as a lecturer in an international master’s degree program in music therapy at Codarts in Rotterdam.
