There is something refreshing about a love song that allows itself to be hopeful. Aurealis’ “How I Feel” captures that vulnerable stage of a relationship when you begin wondering if what you are experiencing could actually become something lasting. Rather than leaning into heartbreak or uncertainty alone, the song finds its emotional centre in possibility.

The bright synthpop production immediately gives the track a warm, uplifting character. Layered vocals and atmospheric electronic textures create a polished sound that feels romantic without becoming overly sentimental. What I enjoy most is the contrast between the confidence in the music and the hesitation within the lyrics. There is a genuine push and pull between believing that the relationship is right and wondering if it might all be a dream.
That emotional uncertainty makes the song relatable. The feeling of wanting someone badly while simultaneously being afraid of making the wrong move is something many people understand. Lines about not wanting to “blow” your chance capture that sense of emotional risk without overcomplicating it.
I also think “How I Feel” works particularly well as a change of direction for Aurealis. After some of the darker material associated with the project, this release feels like stepping into the light. There is warmth, optimism and a sense of emotional freedom running through it. The song does not pretend that vulnerability disappears when you find someone you care about. Instead, it suggests that sometimes the uncertainty is part of what makes the experience exciting.
The cinematic music video strengthens that idea. Following a young man driving through glowing golden-hour landscapes toward someone he loves, it focuses less on the destination and more on the anticipation of arriving. I like that the person waiting at the end is deliberately left unseen. It keeps the story universal and allows the listener to imagine who that person might be.
That cinematic approach fits Aurealis well. Behind the mask is an independent studio-based artist whose work is built around songwriting, layered vocals, atmospheric synths and visual storytelling. The music explores emotions such as love, longing, loss, resilience and self-doubt, with each release creating its own visual world.
Released on August 21, 2026, “How I Feel” feels like one of those songs that simply wants you to believe in something good for a moment. It is romantic, melodic and optimistic, but its strongest quality is its honesty. Sometimes you know exactly who you want to see, you just have to be brave enough to make the journey.
