Music has long been used to tell stories, challenge injustice, and document the realities that headlines often fail to capture. For HZPROD, however, music is not simply a creative outlet. It is the foundation of a much larger humanitarian vision. His debut project, War Torn, is a concept-driven hip-hop release that explores conflict, identity, resilience, and hope while encouraging listeners to engage with a cause that extends beyond streaming numbers. Rather than positioning himself at the centre of the story, HZPROD has deliberately built the project around collaboration, allowing a diverse group of artists to interpret its themes through their own voices and lived experiences.

What makes War Torn particularly distinctive is that it is fundamentally a producer-led project. While many collaborative albums revolve around a headline artist, HZPROD approached this release as the architect rather than the star. He developed the concept, identified artists whose perspectives aligned with the message, coordinated recording sessions across multiple countries, financed the production, oversaw the visual identity, and managed the rollout from beginning to end. A Bosnian by birth and raised in Central New York, HZPROD now works as a digital nomad, creating music while travelling internationally rather than operating within a traditional local music scene. Without the benefit of nearby collaborators, every relationship behind War Torn was established remotely. Artists were contacted individually, ideas were developed across borders, and recordings were coordinated entirely through online collaboration. The result is a project that reflects not one location or perspective but a collection of voices united by shared themes of resilience, humanity, and hope.

The scale of the undertaking is equally remarkable. HZPROD invested more than $20,000 of his own resources into the project, covering production, recording, travel, mixing, visuals, and promotion. At the same time, he was learning the realities of music production and independent releases, making War Torn not only his debut as a producer but also an education in every stage of bringing a large-scale concept project to life. Rather than waiting until he felt completely established, he chose to release the music because he believed the message deserved to exist now, allowing both his artistic voice and technical skills to continue evolving publicly.

Another important contributor to the project’s development is songwriter Marco Vernice, who joined during the later stages of production. His role was not to reshape the project into a single creative vision but to refine and strengthen several songs while respecting the individuality of each featured performer. That collaborative philosophy became one of the defining characteristics of War Torn. Instead of tightly controlling every lyrical direction, HZPROD encouraged artists to interpret the project’s themes through their own experiences, resulting in performances that feel personal, believable, and emotionally honest.

At the centre of War Torn is a humanitarian mission. The project explores the realities of conflict from multiple perspectives while directing the producer’s personal earnings toward supporting Save the Children, creating a model where listener engagement naturally contributes to a broader charitable purpose. Importantly, the project avoids presenting itself as a personal tragedy or victim narrative. HZPROD’s intention is not to seek sympathy but to create awareness, using music as a bridge between audiences and issues that often feel distant until they are experienced through personal storytelling.

Each track contributes a different chapter to that broader narrative. “War Within,” featuring Zombie Juice and ShoeGang, explores the connection between internal struggles and the larger conflicts unfolding across the world, suggesting that personal and global battles are often deeply intertwined. Rather than separating psychological hardship from external violence, the song draws meaningful parallels between the two, creating one of the project’s most emotionally layered moments.

The tone shifts on “Dreamer,” which introduces a more hopeful perspective without abandoning the album’s central themes. Balancing optimism with realism, the track reminds listeners that perseverance often begins with the willingness to imagine something better, even during difficult circumstances. That emotional contrast prevents War Torn from becoming relentlessly bleak, reinforcing the project’s broader message that resilience remains possible even in the face of overwhelming challenges.

Global inequality comes sharply into focus on “A.F.R.I.C.A,” a socially conscious record examining survival, systemic barriers, and the realities faced by communities affected by poverty and injustice. Rather than presenting simplistic solutions, the song encourages reflection on the structures that continue to shape lives across generations, expanding the project’s scope beyond any single region or conflict.

One of the album’s most personal collaborations arrives with “Slave Music,” featuring Charles Hamilton. Exploring themes of freedom, identity, and industry control, the song carries particular emotional significance for HZPROD, who has followed Hamilton’s artistic journey for many years. That long-standing admiration gives the collaboration additional depth, transforming it into more than simply another guest appearance. It becomes a meeting of shared experiences and creative philosophies.

The project reaches one of its most ambitious moments with “Peace?”, featuring legendary lyricists KXNG Crooked and The Game. Rather than offering easy answers, the track asks whether genuine peace still exists in a world shaped by conflict, inequality, and division, encouraging listeners to question both global events and the tensions present within their own communities. It is a fitting culmination of the project’s central ideas, balancing hard-hitting performances with thoughtful social commentary.

As a producer, HZPROD blends classic boom-bap foundations with atmospheric textures, alternative hip-hop influences, and cinematic arrangements that give every track room to breathe emotionally. His production favours storytelling over trends, creating soundscapes that support rather than overshadow the voices featured throughout the project. That philosophy allows each collaboration to feel distinct while maintaining a consistent sonic identity across the album.
