Nick Stone Releases “Cinnamon”: A Sweet Symphony of Indie Rock Bliss

In the heart of Vancouver’s vibrant music scene, Nick Stone and his band have concocted a delectable indie rock treat with their latest single, “Cinnamon.” This dopamine shot of musical spontaneity captures the essence of late-night creation and stands as a testament to the band’s unique sound and collaborative spirit.

The band, consisting of Nick Stone (vocals, guitar), Colton Legree (vocals, keys), Thomas Riedl (drums), Kevin Hues (bass), Liam Simpson (guitar), Tanner Reid (guitar), and Emily Gordon (background vocals), came together in late 2022. Their musical influences draw from the timeless classics that defined generations, with a nod to contemporary artists like Mac Demarco, The Kooks, and the Backseat Lovers.

“Cinnamon” is not just a song; it’s a journey born out of a spontaneous jam session. Late one night, Nick Stone, Colton Legree, and Liam Simpson found themselves jamming after a practice session. The initial melody of “Cinnamon” emerged, and the trio delved into the creative process, spending hours perfecting the structure. The lyrics, completed just 45 minutes before taking the stage at a show the next day, marked the birth of a standout track.

The single’s charm lies in its playful love song narrative, adorned with sweet, sugary imagery. “Cinnamon” is Nick Stone’s first co-written and sung collaboration with a close friend and bandmate. The song’s distinctive features include dual vocals, harmonica solos, and trumpet embellishments that provide a refreshing twist to the classic indie rock sound.

Notable achievements are already stacking up for Nick Stone and the band. The recently sold-out show at the Wise Hall in Vancouver on December 1st marked a significant milestone, with over 250 tickets sold. Looking ahead, the band aims to join the festival circuit in the coming year while continuing to release new music.

The recording of “Cinnamon” took place at Park Sound Studios in North Vancouver, with producer and friend Dan Ponich at the helm. Engineered and mixed by Ponich, the single was mastered by Dave Collins in Los Angeles.

Nick Stone’s musical journey has garnered praise from critics, with the release of “Famous People” earlier this year receiving acclaim for its relatable charm and twangy tones reminiscent of Mac Demarco.

As “Cinnamon” hits the airwaves, accompanied by a fun music video set to release on December 13th, Nick Stone and the band invite listeners to indulge in the sweet sounds of indie rock with a soulful twist. The band’s ethos revolves around late-night creativity, collaboration, and a passion for crafting music that resonates with audiences. With more surprises and early tours on the horizon, Nick Stone’s musical adventure promises to captivate and delight in the years to come.
