“Off the Record” is an explosive explosion of alternative garage rock that demands your attention. The track packs a forceful punch with its thunderous riffs, soaring guitar solos, and authoritative drumming. The simple yet frenzied vocal repetition “I don’t feel comfortable with my voice on the record” adds an intriguing depth of reflection to the mix. With “Off the Record,” The Fades unleash an unbridled torrent of alternative garage rock fury, drawing inspiration from Nirvana’s early days, the unfiltered intensity of Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, the experimental flair of Faith No More, and the unapologetic attitude of Idles.

But who exactly are The Fades?  The band comprises of the Lightfoot brothers, Dave (vocals, guitar) and James (bass), as well as their lifelong school friend Jonny Barnard (guitar) and Alastair “Flash” Thorpe (drums). They formed in 2002 and rapidly built a name for themselves with their debut track, “You Say,” which caught the attention of Zane Lowe and earned a slot on XFM’s playlist, sparking excitement about their music. Following a successful UK tour alongside Art Brut, The Fades became renowned for their explosive live performances and chaotic on-stage antics, including their trademark clothes swapping with fellow bands. Their subsequent string of hit singles and a well-received mini album gained regular airplay on national radio and secured features in TV shows and publications worldwide.

The band went on tour in Ireland and Italy, enthralling audiences with their energetic and thrilling live concerts. Their extraordinary talent piqued the interest of US indie label Cranky Girl Records, prompting The Fades to cross the Atlantic for a tour of New York, where they released records and honed their scintillating live performances through a whirlwind of gigs, parties, and unforgettable experiences.

When The Fades returned to the UK in late 2010, they were energised and inspired to create their debut full-length album, ‘Ragnarok,’ drawing influence from their adventures in New York. The CD displayed their artistic development and cemented their spot in the music industry.

The Fades continue to push boundaries with their addictive combination of alternative garage rock, with the release of “Off the Record” and the promise of more exciting singles on the way. Their electric music, combined with their compelling live concerts, has solidified their industry status. Fans are excited to see what the future holds for The Fades as they embark on a UK tour, establishing their place as a strong force in the world of rock music.
