BELIEVE IT, IT’S EASY Presents “Patriotic Songs”: A Journey of Musical and Conceptual Depth

Connecticut-based Believe It, It’s Easy returns with their sophomore album, “Patriotic Songs,” a masterful fusion of musical influences across alternative country, pop, and rock genres. Founded by Zeb Mrowka, the band made its debut in July 2021, and now, their latest release promises an exploration of profound themes and musical landscapes.

At the core of this album lies a conceptual journey, as Mrowka explains, “For you, the listener, I spent two and a half years making our new album ‘Patriotic Songs.’ It’s a conceptual album that is inspired by classic releases from Tooth & Nail Records, as well as a broad stroke of the country music genre from the 1950s to today.” The lyrical exploration delves into the intricacies of religion and Christianity, viewed from the perspective of someone raised outside the church, presenting 14 stories across 14 songs.

The album, co-produced by Justin Pizzoferrato, recognized for his work with Speedy Ortiz and Wild Pink, and Sam Nazaretian of Cheem, brings this vivid conceptualization to life. Mrowka himself describes the album as the “honor of my life.”

Two singles, “Heaven (So Far Away)” and “Walk on Water” featuring Jim Lill on pedal steel, preceded the album’s release, offering a glimpse into the thematic depth and musical richness of “Patriotic Songs.” This release marks an independent venture for Believe It, It’s Easy, set to debut on November 10.

Featuring a lineup of diverse musical talents including Zebulon Mrowka, Jim Lill on pedal steel, Bobby Huff on guitar and synth, André Mastrandrea on cello, Jared Schmidt on violin, and vocal contributions from Kyle McGandy, Sam Nazz, and Angie Padua, the album credits showcase a collaborative effort that contributes to the sonic tapestry of the album.

Mrowka’s description of “Heaven (So Far Away)” hints at the thematic richness embedded within the album, conveying the struggle of outgrowing societal norms and the finer aspects of life, a sentiment many might find unfamiliar or isolating.

“Patriotic Songs” is not merely an album but a resonant narrative of personal exploration and musical evolution, offering an introspective journey through Zeb Mrowka’s sonic landscape. With its release, the band opens the doors to an immersive musical experience, inviting listeners into a world of thematic depth and artistic ingenuity.
